Thematic Output: Celebration of Christmas in Vigan City

Christmas is a joyous occasion for everyone, young and adult alike. We celebrate the festivals in Christmas oftentimes with our loved ones. It is the time of the year that we get the chance to be with them and just the thought of it makes us excited. We commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ by attending the Misa De Gallo that starts on the 16th of December.

It doesn't matter how we celebrate the Christmas, what matters is that we have Jesus in our minds and hearts, we bear in mind the essence of Christmas in our daily lives.

Despite all odds caused by the pandemic, the Christmas vibes in the Vigan City continued as the annual Artes Ita Paskua of the City Government of Vigan got it's way last December 7-17, 2020 with the new normal set-up in which most of the events were done online and the others with limited participants to comply with the Minimum Health Standards set by the City COVID-19 Task Force. Biguenos and Ilocanos are known as happy and close handed peoples. As a part of Biguenos we celebrate Christmas by giving love to each other just to feel the essence of the Christmas even though we can not meet through face to face but we can communicate in the way of media like video call, chats and other communicative ways.

Visiting Vigan City is like traveling back in time because of it's preserved Spanish Colonial town that even the world considers it as one of the best. Aside from the magnificent Vigan tourist spots, what makes this city well-loved is it's the historical and cultural significance that feed not just wanderlust but also a traveler's mind and soul. And because Vigan has maintained it's authenticity in it's grid street pattern, historic urban layout and use of open spaces, UNESCO has inscribed it in the list of World Heritage Sites.

Calle Crisologo when talking about the best tourist spot in Vigan, the iconic Calle Crisologo immediately pops into our mind. The Spanish houses erected here by the wealthy families have been so well-maintained over the years. And to try our best seller food in Vigan City which is the Vigan Empanada. Tourists can ride a Kalesa or simply take a fun walking in Vigan tour to see the marvelous heritage houses. And so come and visit the one of the best tourists spot in Vigan and best Heritage in the Philippines the one and only Vigan City Heritage.

Celebrating of Fiesta in time of Crisis

Vigan City town fiesta is being celebrated every year. It has always been a week-long celebration with lots of fun activities for the people. It is a much awaited time of the year. Carnivals are being set up a few weeks before the celebration for everyone to be enjoy. People with different walks of life come to Vigan and join the festival activities. Every night, the week before the town fiesta, there are different events being held in connection with the celebration. There are also competitions such as street dancing, carabao parade, beauty pageant, and many more activities where we can showcase our talents and abilities. All of these have been on hold, because of the virus COVID-19 Pandemic. It’s already been 2 years from now since the celebration and activities we used to experience were stopped.
